Respect

Today is work-from-home day. Self-declared (LOL) and boy, how I'm enjoying every second of it!!! Guess I really really hate my new seat. Don't know why but my productivity has somewhat declined since moving there. Maybe fengshui really makes a difference? Especially when you're talking about comfort level of the person when he/she is in a particular space. I'm definitely not comfortable in that seat. No matter how you cut it, still doesn't work. Though I love my new neighbor to bits (she's such a sweetie pie and major crap partner :p), I guess there's only so much I can 'like'. Looking forward to the day when I'm outta here! *Beams*

Have been liaising with this top Japanese architect firm the past 2 months-ish. His secretary's a really polite and capable lady. And I really dig the way they communicate via email. Always polite, always efficient. And never once have they made me feel offended etc. Unlike some of the people I've encountered in my career. There's no (disgusting) smatter of smileys all over place. Nor exclamation marks etc. Yet every email they send is clear, polite, quietly assertive and reading emails from them just make me feel so professional (not that I'm not :p) and happy! (Weird, I know. But what the heck. This is MY BLOG.)

Other than being productive at work from home, I've been catching up on reading too. And how uncanny sometimes. I have just finished some email correspondence with the Jap folks and was just thinking about what a great lesson (or two) I've learnt from their email-writing skills. Guess what? The chapter I'm at on my latest read had a line which jumped straight out at me >> "You can say whatever you want, as long as you say it with respect". How apt huh? Really echoes what the Japs have been doing and how I have been getting things done for a recent major project we're prepping. Bosses are away and I had to make some calls to get things moving. There were some people whom I know, judge people by their titles and choose whether to reply to emails by titles as well. Perhaps my persistence paid off. Perhaps it was my professionalism. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure it was cos of my "quietly assertive yet respectful" tone of voice when I'm communicating with them that got the job done. Thanks to the Jap training! :D

Life's just full of little lessons. Love it!
