Drinks on Sat night

First things first, I want to say a big THANK YOU to Hendrix, Desmond and Kate for helping me finish my last 2 bottles of reds. And for the crazy dancing at Dbl O later in the night. Really enjoyed myself! Almost forgot I can groove pretty well, wahhaha. Anyways bud, thanks for introducing those 2 friends to me - I've got (even more) 'live' music and wine kakis now! :)

*sips coffee*

Ok last night started off with me suggesting a chill session near Esplanade. I badly wanted to finish my best 2 bottles of reds that's been in my cabinet for the longest time. Good wines aren't meant for display! Greatest sin of all. Well they didn't disappoint.. Really good shit: The Wolf Blass's President Selection Cabernet Sauvignon was velvety and oakish and chocolatey, whilst the Hillcrest Shiraz 2003 was more fruity. Lovely. Kate said she has two friends who're driving and asked if I want them to come along.

"Come! The more the merrier, haha"
"Ok! So I'll get them to meet us straight in town? One of them hasn't knocked off yet."
"Sure. I'll just meet you and go town together. Cya!"

In the end, I suggested Bar Celona to support Kev and his band. Anyways corkage's cheap there, $24+++ only. My wines were Dad's birthday presents. Since he's not a wine person, I'll just take them for myself :) Wolf Blass's about 100-odd a bottle, the Hillcrest's about 50-odd. Good deal!!! My wines totalled more than $100 and I paid less than $50 for corkage.. Grins! Reached about 8plus with Kate and drank as we ate. Was swearing at the stupid first half of Liverpool-Birmingham match too. Boring till we almost dozed off.... zzzzz.

Hendrix n Desmond reached about 9. Easygoing fellas. The moment they sat down I knew we're gonna click. My gut feel proved right as the night went on. Ordered more fingerfood and the match suddenly got exciting - 3 goals in less than 5 minutes!?!! Kate and I almost choked on our calamari! We moved into the pub when AlterEgo started playing. Des was impressed by how tight the band is. I am too. Cos' the first time I heard them play, the drummist wasn't there. Last night he really pulled the band together. Kev's singing as usual, was good. But he said his range's a bit limited. Need to work on it. Join me for vocal classes, Kev? I'm thinking about it, hee.

I moved the gang to Dbl O when Linda and beau came. Time for dancing (and cheaper alcohol)! Was super packed the place. Music for the night was retro. Poison for the night ranged from tequila shots, whiskey coke, vodka orange and I forgot what else. I was already a little tipsy after the wines. Add on the spirits? Triple triple whammy! But we danced and grooved and shook our booty. It kinda helped to clear the alcohol a bit. Kate had this perpetual amused look on her face to see me enjoying myself so much. Well, maybe it was the jog I had before meeting her. Endorphins people, endorphins.... Desmond and Hendrix were sporting guys. And I liked the mix of company. Linda and beau danced too, haha. On the whole it was awesome. Two thumbs up!

I'm happy. Well at least the fellas were genuine and not some act-cool type of men. We made a pact to visit places in Singapore where there's 'live' jazz bands and I proposed jazz@southbridge. The dudes there are famous fer their improvisation! Hendrix and I also decided to go for wine appreciation together. Didn't even feel out of place when towards the end, it was just me and the two guys. Kate was confident we can click and damn, she was right. :)

I think we should go Dempsey Road for our next wine session (I was there with CW on Friday night for a romantic meal). Hendrix's been there before too and digs the place. Heard they hold appreciation classes too. Shall find out more =D Meanwhile, I'll have to drink more h2o n rest my tired legs. Shall jog tomorrow to burn those extra calories away..
